According to a recent study published in the journal Frontiers in Nutrition, vitamin B6 can reduce cytokine storms and blood clots – both of which are associated to some of the worst COVID-19 outcomes.
Cytokine storms have been linked to many deaths from COVID-19 and occur when the immune system goes into overdrive and starts attacking healthy cells.
Meanwhile, studies have found that that blood clots are associated with a 74 percent increased risk of death from COVID-19.
In other words, getting adequate amounts of vitamin B6 may protect people against those severe complications.
And while this research is preliminary, it’s not surprising — we’ve known for ages that vitamin B6 plays a crucial role in supporting the proper function of your immune system.
Vitamin B6 is vital to supporting biochemical reactions in the immune system, like making new red blood cells, and transporting oxygen throughout the body.
But nearly one in 10 Americans are vitamin B6 deficient!
