Three WEIRD Signs You Have Diabetes?!

‘Fruity-smelling’ breath

You’ve probably never heard your doctor talk about this, but there is a complication of diabetes called diabetic ketoacidosis that causes some people to have ‘fruity-smelling’ breath.

When your body is unable to use insulin for energy, it breaks down your fat cells for energy. This process produces an acid known as ketones.

Excess ketones in your bloodstream normally leave the body through urine. Even so, when your body starts breaking down fat for energy, the effect is fruity-smelling breath or breath that smells like acetone, or nail polish.

Dry, cracked skin

Is your skin becoming drier and more irritated… no matter how much lotion you use?

It could be an early sign of diabetes.

Uncontrolled, high blood sugar causes your body to lose fluids at a faster rate. This can lead to dry, cracked skin… especially on your feet.

‘Pins and needles’

That ‘tingling’ feeling you get on your skin every once in a while, is okay… but if you find it happening frequently, it could be caused by diabetes.

You see, diabetes causes nerve damage, which often feels like ‘pins and needles.’

Damaged nerves can alter your perception of heat, cold, and pain… potentially increasing your risk of injuries.

Curb the ‘weird’ signs of diabetes

So, how do you address these diabetes warning signs?

Ultimately it boils down to regulating your insulin and blood sugar levels through your diet.

You can control how much sugar enters your bloodstream… which helps ensure proper insulin function.

Experts agree that diets like the ketogenic diet (aka “keto”) and intermittent fasting not only allow you to eat good, tasty foods… but have all sorts of diabetes-blasting benefits.

Keto is a very low-carb, high-fat diet that shares many similarities with the Atkins and other low-carb diets. It involves drastically reducing carbohydrate intake and replacing it with fat.
