The 10-year study that looked at ‘meat eaters’ found that folks who ate at least 150 grams of processed meat (which is just over five ounces) each week showed a 46% INCREASE in the risk for developing heart disease.

And, the risk of DEATH shot up by a whopping 51% compared those that did NOT eat processed meat.

So why are processed meats dangerous?

Processed meats are meats like hot dogs and canned ham that are preserved through methods like curing, salting, smoking, drying, or canning. This means they are packed with salt and preservatives to extend their shelf life… both of which are bad for your heart.

But there is good news… especially if you love to eat meat!

Sticking to organic, grass-fed meats are your best bet to avoiding unhealthy preservatives that can do some serious damage to your heart.

Most grocery stores have dedicated sections in the meat department for grass-fed meats… including beef, chicken, and pork.

You can also do an online search for any local farms in your area that sell meats right at their location. This is a great option to ensure you’re getting meat straight from the source!
