For the study, researchers split mice with Alzheimer’s into two groups before their symptoms fully developed. One got a regular diet and the other got a diet supplemented with canola oil for a year.
At the end of trial, the mice were weighed and had their cognitive abilities tested.
And the mice getting canola oil were in terrible shape — they weighed more and had serious memory issues.
Even worse? Their brains were covered in amyloid plaques — among the key drivers of dementia and memory loss.
The mice were getting the human equivalent of only two tablespoons a day and still had these horrifying results. Just imagine what could happen if you’re getting double or even triple this amount every day.
Experts report that they aren’t exactly sure why canola oil is so devastating to your health but that it should no longer be considered nutritious.
Fortunately, you’ve got lots of options when it comes to vegetable oils.
And one in particular — olive oil — has a truckload of studies proving it can actually shield your brain from Alzheimer’s and help you keep a trim waist.
So ditch your canola oil and make the permanent switch to olive oil for the sake of your health.
