These days, cellphones are practically impossible to avoid — we use them for phone calls, shopping lists and even directions.

Fortunately, there are ways to cut down on your exposure.
In the past, cellphone use has been linked to metabolic problems, brain functions and even ear tumors.

Now we know it can give you cancer, too.
In the recent study by the National Toxicology Program, researchers split rats and mice into two groups. One group was exposed to cellphone radiation for nine hours a day in 10-minute intervals and the other wasn’t.
At the end of the trial, the exposed male rats had a significant increase in heart cancer risk.
Even worse? The larger the animal, the bigger the risk.
And this was in rats — so just imagine what this could be doing to you.
Experts report that cellphone radiation is so dangerous because it affects your body in the same way microwave radiation does — by heating water.
And since your body is composed of about 60% water, cellphone radiation can reach all of your tissues. Especially muscles like your heart that have a higher water content.
But there are ways to limit your risk.
First, don’t use your cellphone unless you have to. Reducing use also reduces radiation exposure.
When you do use it, opt for the speakerphone option when you can. This will lower the amount of radiation absorbed by your body.
And turn it off when you’re not using it, like at night.
