The DEADLY Brain Problem Lurking in Your Stomach

We all feel a little bloated from time-to-time.

Usually, it’s a big meal that causes your stomach to expand and makes you want to trade in your jeans for a comfortable pair of sweatpants.

But did you know that one in 10 Americans say they suffer from bloating regularly, even when they HAVEN’T eaten a large meal?

If this sounds like you, you’re probably wondering…

What am I putting into my body to make me feel like this?!

But I’m here to tell you that the pain of bloating may have nothing to do with what you’re putting INTO your body… but what you’re NOT putting into your body.

And if you’re NOT getting enough of this, it can lead to a number of health issues down the road… including some serious damage to your BRAIN.

I’m talking about vitamin B12.

Vitamin B12 does a lot of good things for your body… like making your DNA, maintaining healthy red blood cells, and ensuring proper functioning of the nervous system.

But your body doesn’t make vitamin B12. you have to get it from animal-based foods or from supplements. And unfortunately, millions of Americans AREN’T getting enough of it.

Research has found that nearly 40 PERCENT of the U.S. population is vitamin B12 deficient. And unfortunately, it’s VERY common in seniors.

And stomach bloating may be a tell-tale sign that you’re not getting enough vitamin B12.

Other symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency include general weakness, tiredness, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, and even headaches.

But did you know that a lack of vitamin B12 can also target your brain and memory?!

Vitamin B12 is necessary for healthy brain function, and also maintaining intact myelin sheaths (the protective covering around nerves). Should those protective coverings be destroyed, it can lead to destructive memory loss and even dementia symptoms!

So how do you make sure you’re getting enough vitamin B12?

Remember, your body doesn’t produce vitamin B12 naturally. It is best gained through foods, particularly those of an animal origin such as meat, eggs and dairy. People who follow a vegan or vegetarian diet may be at risk of deficiency.

You don’t need to become a complete carnivore, but eating enough meat, eggs, and dairy is the first step to ensure you’re getting enough vitamin B12.

But even for folks that have cut out meat from their diets, there are plenty of solutions to ensure proper vitamin B12 levels.

You can purchase vitamin B12 supplements from your local health food store. Some seniors have trouble absorbing B12 through their digestive systems as they get older, so sublingual (under the tongue) supplements may make sense.

So, the next time you’re feeling bloated, ask yourself if you’re getting enough vitamin B12. It could curb that uncomfortable bloating AND keep your memory sharp for years to come.
