Tasty “Blue” Dessert DEFEATS Heart Disease (Yum!)

Happy Independence Day! No matter where you live or how you like to celebrate, I hope your Fourth is filled with love and laughter from friends and family… 

And even more than that, I hope it’s easy on your heart! 

Summer holidays are typically chock full of fried meats, funnel cakes, and other tasty treats… things your mainstream cardiologist will ORDER you to avoid to protect your ticker… 

But now, new research reveals a way to have your cake and eat it too, because one summer staple – a decadent dessert that’s PERFECT for Fourth of July – may contain the key to BEATING deadly heart disease! 

What to know which mouth-watering morsel I’m talking about?  

Here’s a hint: You can find it in ooey, gooey blueberry pie… fluffy blueberry pancakes… berries and cream… blueberry cobbler… and SO MUCH MORE! 

Today, I’ve got breaking news on blueberries. 

In a just-out study, published last month in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, British scientists used gold-standard research methods to identify the effects of blueberries on patients with metabolic syndrome. 

That’s a term that encompasses multiple conditions (including high blood sugar, blood pressure, and body fat) that ultimately send your heart risk SOARING — especially if you’re struggling with more than one issue. 

But according to this all-new study, blueberries can help IMPROVE your odds and PROTECT your ticker! 

In this double-blind, placebo-controlled study, researchers instructed over 100 overweight adults to consume either a half a cup of blueberries, one full cup of blueberries, or a placebo every day for six months… 

And here’s what they saw. 

After six months, people who ate one cup of blueberries per day had WAY BETTER measures of vascular function and arterial stiffness! 

That translates to improved blood flow and more flexible arteries, two things we all NEED for optimal heart hearth… and researchers say these changes led to a 12 to 15 percent REDUCTION in heart disease risk! 

But blueberry’s benefits don’t stop there. 

Another study, recently published in the Journal of Gerontology: Series A, supports these results… finding that eating 200 grams (a little over a cup) of blueberries each day for a month can improve blood vessel function and LOWER systolic (top) blood pressure! 

In both studies, researchers say that blueberry’s heart-healthy effects come from plant compounds, called flavonoids, that are known to have anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory abilities… 

So, consider adding a cup of plump, juicy blueberries to your daily routine. 

And perhaps more importantly, if you spot a sweet blueberry pie on this Independence Day, don’t deny yourself. Cut yourself a big ol’ slice — and tell your doc to shove it.
