You probably know oregano as a tasty herb that’s used in all kinds of Italian and Greek dishes. But oregano has been HEALING the sick since the days of ancient Greek and Roman civilizations.

In fact, the name oregano comes from the Greek words “oros,” meaning mountain, and “ganos,” meaning joy or delight.

And to this day, researchers have long-touted the many health benefits of oregano.

It can help lower cholesterol, improve gut health, and curb inflammation (just to name a few).

But perhaps oregano’s most powerful benefit is the ability to turn your immune system into an absolute FORTRESS.

One study found that oregano essential oil contains strong antioxidant properties that can treat fevers and other respiratory symptoms… which are both associated with the flu.

According to researchers, the IMMUNE-BOOSTING ability of oregano is due to carvacrol, one of the main compounds in oregano oil.

While carvacrol is effective against certain viruses on its own, oregano oil is MORE effective against nasty respiratory viruses like the flu!

And let’s face it, we are ALL looking for any boost to our immune system we can get these days.

So how can you incorporate oregano into your daily routine to ensure iron-clad immunity?

I LOVE oregano as a spice… especially in hearty Italian or Greek dishes. Dried oregano is available at your local grocery store and is a great staple for your pantry. So, the next time you’re making classics like chicken parmesan, lasagna, or even fish… don’t forget a few dashes of oregano to jazz up the flavor.

But to get the most bang for your buck, I recommend oregano oil extract. Oregano oil extract is widely available in capsule and tablet form and can be found at most health food shops or online.

Keep in mind that dosages can vary between manufactures, so just make sure you don’t take more than the recommended amount listed on the package.
