In one of these trials, scientists gave 10 mg of lutein to a folks who were already suffering from AMD and aged 74 years on average.
And after just a year, the researchers found incredible results…
The lutein significantly improved the participant’s vision quality — including sharper vision and better recovery time from light exposures and glares.
This means lutein not only helps improve your vision, it also helps protect your eyes from damaging light exposures, which can speed up the effects of AMD.

Researchers believe that lutein fights macular degeneration because it helps block dangerous blue light (like the type from your computer or phone screens) and reduces the inflammation and damage caused by it.
In fact, lutein is so effective at this, that one study found that taking just 6 mg of lutein daily lead to a 43 percent lower risk for developing macular degeneration.
Lutein is found in many different foods including leafy greens, eggs, peas, Brussel sprouts and corn.
However, you would have to eat a truckload of these foods every day to get anywhere close to a 10mg does.
And that’s why it’s important to supplement you lutein intake. You can find lutein supplements at natural health stores and through online retailers.
