In this study, published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Italian researchers studied the effects of hot chili peppers – an ingredient common in Mediterranean kitchens – on the health of 23,000 people.
They followed these folks for around eight years and kept tabs on the subjects’ reported eating habits – and amazingly, they saw INCREDIBLE benefits in folks who ate chili peppers.
Compared to those who avoided eating peppers, people who consumed them four or more times per week were a whopping 40 PERCENT less likely to die of a heart attack!
Not only that, but researchers observed that these spice-lovers were HALF as likely to die of a cerebrovascular issue – aka a brain blood flow problem, like stroke.

Pepper-eaters were also 23 percent LESS LIKELY to die of any cause during the study period!
Amazingly, these results remained consistent regardless of diet… meaning that you could eat almost anything you want, and these peppers might still protect your ticker.

Just be careful if you choose to start cooking with them – and make sure not to touch your face while handling them.
