Because British researchers have just discovered that being a night owl — staying up late and waking up late — could land you in an early grave.
Researchers have known for years that too little or ill-timed sleep can mess with your circadian rhythm, increase your blood sugar and even make you obese.
Now it looks like it can kill you, too.
In a recent study published in Chronobiology International, researchers studied over 430,000 people between ages 38 and 73, tracking their sleeping habits and death for 6½ years.
At the end of the trial, they found that night owls had a 10% higher risk of dying than the morning people.
Ten percent may not sound like a lot, but it could add up to a decade of memories and time spent with your family that you’ll never get.
Even worse? Night owls also have a higher risk of diabetes and psychological disorders.
