At the end of the two-week trial, those drinking cherry juice saw significant improvements in their sleep.
In fact, the cherry juice had such a profound effect on sleep that some of the participants increased their sleep time by a whopping 84 minutes!
Even better, blood tests revealed that it also helped lower their levels of kynurenine — a dangerous chemical linked to sleep problems — and raise levels of tryptophan, an amino acid that helps induce sleep.
Experts report that cherry juice is so good at inducing sleep and balancing these brain compounds because it’s loaded with antioxidants like procyanidins and anthocyanins.
You can get cherry juice at your local grocery store. But be sure to select a juice made from Montmorency tart cherries, just like the one used in this study.
