For the study, researchers from Uppsala University in Sweden performed tests on 15 people after a full night's sleep and after a sleepless night.

The scientists took fat and muscle tissue samples and collected blood from the participants, focusing on how the different levels of sleep impact your DNA.  

Amazingly, just one sleepless night activates your fat-storing genes and decreases your muscle strength.

But when the participants got good sleep… their bodies burned fat instead of storing it. 

This means inadequate sleep could be what stands between you and the body you’ve always wanted. 

Experts report that your body stores more fat when you are tired because of the disruptions to your circadian rhythm or body clock. 

Other studies have linked poor sleep to type 2 diabetes and heart problems.
