You see, top researchers from Boston University Medical Center have just found that diet sodas and other artificially sweetened beverages can really make your health swirl the drain.
In fact, just one of these drinks a day can shoot your risk of a deadly stroke or developing life-altering dementia through the roof.
In the past, artificially sweetened beverages have been linked to diabetes, metabolic syndrome and even cancer.
More recently, scientists wanted to see if they could also increase your risk of suffering from a stroke or dementia.
For the study, researchers analyzed the medical records of about 4,000 people looking for connections between diet soda intake and stroke or dementia.
And what they found was astonishing…
Folks who drank as little as one artificially sweetened beverage daily tripled their chances of suffering from stroke or dementia!
Just imagine what could be happening to your health if you’re drinking 5 or 10 of these every day!
Experts believe artificial sweeteners are so dangerous because they can have negative effects on the circulatory system, which can lead to both dementia and stroke.
Strangely, this study didn’t find sugar-sweetened beverages were tied to either ailment but did find they can reduce your brain size and cause some memory problems.
After considering these results, skipping sweetened beverages of any type is likely your best bet if you want to remain healthy into your golden years.
