Because health experts from the Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging have just found that eating an avocado every day can boost your memory, attention span and even your eyesight!
And it’s all thanks to a powerful nutrient called lutein.
For years, researchers have known that this powerful carotenoid can help shield your eyes and brain from the negative effects of aging.
But it wasn’t until recently that they discovered that avocados might just be one of the most nutritious sources of lutein.
In the randomized, controlled trial, 20 healthy adults each ate one avocado every day for six months.
At the end of the trial, they found that the avocado eaters had an impressive 25% bump in their lutein levels and higher levels of sight-protective pigments in their eyes.
Even better, they had significant memory and attention improvements.
And this was after just six months… imagine the changes you could see after a year or even two of enjoying a daily avocado.
Scientists believe the lutein content in avocados isn’t the only reason they’re so good for you. They are also full of inflammation-fighting antioxidants, brain-boosting fatty acids and heart-boosting minerals like potassium and vitamin K.
Avocados are tasty all on their own or make a delicious addition to salads, eggs and soups.
