Parkinsons Disease

New Danger for Parkinson’s Patients

If you’ve got Parkinson’s, you’re already in for the fight of your life.

The constant tremors, pain and stiffness make it nearly impossible to do even the simplest tasks.

And now it looks like the mainstream could be setting you up for more health problems.

You see, French researchers have just linked Parkinson’s drugs to a deadly habit… one that could lead to weight gain and even diabetes.

Fortunately, there is a way to stop it.

Binge eating, or the consumption of a large amount of food in a short period, can cause you to pack on the pounds, increase your blood sugar and even devastate your heart health.

And if you’re taking certain Parkinson’s medications — like ropinirole or pramipexole — your chances of binge eating just went through the roof.

In a recent study, researchers from the Sorbonne University surveyed 411 Parkinson’s patients for three years.

The participants were asked about impulse control issues, like binge eating.

At the end of the study, the scientists found that a whopping 52% of folks taking dopamine agonist drugs had struggled with compulsive behaviors.

Even worse? The risk of impulse control disorders increased with dose.

Experts report that these drugs cause binge eating and other compulsive behaviors because they overstimulate the parts of your brain linked to impulsivity.

Luckily, research shows that lowering your dose or getting off of these meds can reverse the behavior or at least make it more manageable.

So if you’re currently taking a dopamine agonist, it’s time to talk to your doctor about lowering your dose or getting off of it.
