But researchers at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine may have just discovered the REAL reason you can’t sleep at night.

For years, research has suggested that poor sleep quality is linked to an increased risk of obesity.
It’s making you more hungry… you go looking for sugar fixes… and in turn, you eat more calories.
But what if they had everything backwards?
According to a groundbreaking research study, it’s NOT the sleep loss that leads to obesity. It’s the excess weight causing poor sleep!
Researchers from University of Pennsylvania and University of Nevada, Reno, studied worms for a prolonged period of time and found that when placed in an environment where food was in large supply, the worms lost their ability to sleep and were less active.
However, when placed in an environment where food was less abundant, the worms slept for longer periods of time and were more active.
“We think that sleep is a function of the body trying to conserve energy in a setting where energetic levels are going down. Our findings suggest that if you were to fast for a day, we would predict you might get sleepy because your energetic stores would be depleted,” said study co-author David Raizen, MD, PhD.
In other words, limiting unnecessary calories that put on excess weight could unlock your body’s key to getting a better night’s sleep.
Give it a try by eating smaller meals and avoiding foods with empty calories (like sugary foods).
You also might want to try intermittent fasting, where you eat all of your meals within a 6-to-8-hour window every day.
You may just get the best night’s sleep you had in a long time!
