According to Spanish researchers, COVID-19 patients with low levels of ZINC suffer from poorer health outcomes and are at higher risk of DEATH from the virus.
Researchers looked at over 600 patients that were admitted to the hospital for COVID-19… specifically examining their zinc levels.
The average baseline zinc level among all included patients was 61 mcg/dl. For those that passed away from COVID-19, their average zinc levels were much lower at just 43 mcg/dl. But, the average zinc levels among surviving patients was higher at 63 mcg/dl.
In other words, NOT getting enough zinc could mean people are more likely to experience COVID-19 complications if they are infected with the virus… while getting adequate levels of zinc may protect people against those severe complications.
And while this research is preliminary, it’s not surprising — we’ve known for ages that zinc plays a crucial role in supporting the proper function of your immune system.
Zinc is needed for immune cell development and communication and plays a critical role in the inflammatory response.
