Mealtime Hack REVERSES Dementia
There’s no way around it — what you eat directly impacts your health.
And when it comes to your brain, passing up the sugary, processed foods is an obvious choice if you want to avoid dementia.
But according to researchers from the University of California, it’s not just what you’re eating that has a major effect on your brain…
There’s one more dietary factor that may make a HUGE difference in who suffers from dementia — and who doesn’t.
I’m talking about mealtimes. And for years health experts have reported that eating at certain times can be better for your health.
Now it looks like following a certain eating schedule could be the best way stop dementia, too.
For the recent study, researchers split a group of mice with dementia in half. One group was fed scheduled meals within a six-hour window every day and the other group was allowed to eat whenever they liked.
At the end of the trial, both groups were examined for heart and brain health.
It was clear that the group with scheduled meals was in far better shape — they had better sleep quality, heart rates and endurance – all of which can help shield you from dementia.
Better yet? Upon close examination, the researchers found that the scheduled meals practically reversed genetic damage in a part of the brain — the striatum— that often degenerates with the onset of certain types of dementia.
This means eating your meals at the same time every day could be the key to stopping dementia for good.
Experts aren’t exactly sure why set mealtimes are so good for your brain, but they believe it may have something to do with your circadian rhythm — the internal clock that helps regulate your body functions throughout the day.
If you’re not already eating at regular meal times, experts suggest picking a six–eight-hour window in which to eat all of your meals is a good way to start.
