Major Fall Health Warning for Seniors
Dear Turapür Today Reader,
The crispness of fall is finally here.
And while you’re likely thankful for the cooler weather, you’re probably already trying to dodge the colds that come along with it.
But as it turns out, colds and infections might be the least of your health problems in the coming months…
Because Canadian researchers have just discovered that these plummeting temperatures could actually cost you your life, especially if you’re elderly and have heart problems.
It’s no secret that drastic temperature changes can greatly affect your health. But it wasn’t until this latest research that health experts understood the relationship between cool temperatures and death.
For the study, scientists analyzed the medical records of over 112,000 folks age 65 and older, looking for temperature, diagnosis and death patterns.
At the end of the study, the researchers found a clear correlation… cold weather significantly increases your risk of dying if you have heart issues.
And the bad news just keeps coming…
These same cold months (October through April) can send your risk of being hospitalized for a heart problem through the roof.
In fact, they found a nearly 5% increased risk of heart failure for every incremental increase in atmospheric pressure caused by cold weather.
This means the colder your climate, the greater your risk!
So before the temperature really starts to drop, you should go get a checkup and talk to your doctor about your cold weather concerns.
Additionally, don’t hesitate to seek help if the change in weather brings on heart-related symptoms like dizziness, fatigue, water retention and shortness of breath.
