Heartburn Meds Increase Cancer Risk 8x
Dear Turapür Today Reader,
For years the mainstream has been handing out proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) like Nexium, Prevacid and Prilosec to just about anyone who complains about heartburn.
And even though they come with some hefty side effects — things like kidney problems, dementia and heart troubles — your doc reassures you that they are perfectly safe.
But now it looks like they come with even more danger.
Because a team of international researchers have found that PPIs can send your risk of developing stomach cancer through the roof!
And your health could be in big trouble, even if you only take PPIs once a week.
In the recent study, researchers looked at the medical records of over 63,300 people who were taking PPIs, looking for a link between these heartburn meds and cancer.
At the end of the study, they found the following shocking results:
- Weekly PPI users are over TWICE as likely to develop stomach cancer
- Daily PPI users are nearly FIVE TIMES as likely to develop stomach cancer
- And those who use PPIs daily for at least three years are a whopping EIGHT TIMES as likely to develop stomach cancer.
Just imagine what PPIs could be doing to your health if you’ve been taking them for five, 10 or even 15 years.
The researchers report that PPIs drive your cancer risk up because they stimulate gastrin, a powerful hormone that can trigger the growth of cancer cells.
These results and the other dangerous side effects linked to PPIs make many experts question why doctors and pharmacists recommend these drugs in the first place.
Especially when making just a few lifestyle changes like quitting smoking, eating less, losing weight and cutting down on spicy foods can help relieve your heartburn.
