Specifically, the researchers wanted to know if those extracts could block alpha-amylase and alpha-glucosidase, two enzymes that convert carbohydrates into glucose… and their results DID NOT disappoint…
Because ALL THREE EXTRACTS showed inhibitory effects.
That means that ALL THREE were capable of slowing down carb digestion, effectively BLOCKING glucose from being trapped in the blood stream and spiking blood sugar levels!
And while that’s impressive enough on its own, the real star here was white onion… because while garlic and purple onion were able to reduce a-amylase response by 50 percent, it took dosages greater than 8 mg/ml to do the job.
But the white onion?
That amazing extract was able to get the SAME result at a dose of just 3.93 mg/ml… showing that it’s TWICE AS POWERFUL against a-amylase!
Now, reduced a-amylase response means less sugar trapped in your blood – which could mean MAJOR strides toward defeating diabetes – so if you’re struggling with the disease, consider upping your intake.
