‘Forgotten’ Vitamin Kicks Skin Cancer to the Curb

The calendar might say November, but it’s important to protect your skin year-round.

That’s because skin cancer DOESN’T take a break!

In fact, nearly 9,500 Americans (just like you and me) are diagnosed with skin cancer EVERY SINGLE DAY!

And it ‘sneaks up’ on so many people because most folks just assume they can only get it in places with sunnier, hotter weather.

But I can assure you that skin cancer has ZERO boundaries… and it doesn’t take the winter season ‘off.’

In fact, even the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) notes California and Florida had fewer cases of skin cancer per 100,000 people than states with cooler climates, like Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho.

But before you cover yourself from head-to-toe… or head to your local pharmacy to shell out a fortune for the ‘latest-and-greatest’ creams or lotions that promise to keep your skin health…

There’s a ‘forgotten’ vitamin that can help keep guard your skin against harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays… and kick skin cancer to the curb!

I’m talking about vitamin B3 – aka NIACIN!

According to new research out of Italy, a diet rich in niacin can protect the skin from UV exposure and DECREASE the risk of developing skin cancer.

There are two main forms of niacin – nicotinic acid and nicotinamide (NAM). And according to this new research, NAM is the form that interacts with your skin cells to help keep them healthy and strong.

Researchers studied the skin cells of patients diagnosed with non-melanoma skin cancer, gave them various doses of NAM, and then exposed them to UV light.

They found that pre-treating skin cells with NAM before UV exposure PROTECTS the skin from oxidative stress… which leads to DNA damage caused by UV rays.

In other words, niacin (NAM, specifically) essentially acts are a natural ARMOUR for your skin that can keep skin cancer at bay!

And while niacin isn’t one of the more ‘popular’ B-vitamins (like B12), getting adequate amounts of niacin into your body is actually quite easy.

In fact, there are many niacin-rich foods sitting right in your pantry or fridge! Meat, fish, milk, eggs, green vegetables, beans, and grains are all loaded with niacin… specifically NAM.

You can also find niacin supplements at many online health food retailers. Just be sure to stick with the recommended dosage on the product label.
