For the study, researchers randomly assigned obese insulin-dependent diabetics to two groups. One group ate three meals: a large breakfast, a medium lunch and a small dinner. The second group ate a traditional diabetic weight-loss diet consisting of six small meals spaced throughout the day.
Blood sugar levels and spikes were measured for 14 days at baseline, during the first two weeks on the diet and at the end of the study for all patients.
At the end of the three-month trial, the breakfast group had lost a whopping 11 pounds!
And those on the diabetic diet? They actually GAINED three pounds.
Plus, the breakfast group also saw a dramatic decrease in their blood sugar levels and required significantly less insulin while those on the diabetic diet saw increases in both.
So eating a hearty breakfast can help you quickly lose weight and also REVERSE your diabetes!
Experts report that eating a bigger breakfast is so good for you because it helps to kick-start your metabolism and helps it burn fat like a furnace for the rest of the day.
