Dementia Caused by THESE Drugs?

As you age, few things are as scary as being diagnosed with dementia.

You don’t want to spend your golden years slowly losing your precious memories… and your independence.

But believe it or not, some of the most popular drugs on the planet may be sending your dementia risk into the stratosphere.

And there’s little doubt that you have at least one of these drugs sitting in your medicine cabinet right now.

Anticholinergic drugs pop up in the news from time to time… and it’s never good news.

They include some of the top-selling drugs around, like Benadryl, Dramamine, Dimetapp, Unisom, Paxil, etc.

In the past, anticholinergic drugs have been linked to heart and kidney problems.

Now it looks like they’re causing dementia too.

In a recent study, British scientists studied the medical records of 40,770 dementia patients over age 65. They then compared them with the records of 283,933 patients without dementia.

After analyzing more than 27 million prescriptions, they found that patients taking the most anticholinergic drugs were at the greatest risk of developing dementia!

Even worse? After taking a closer look, researchers found that taking anticholinergic drugs as far back as 20 years ago could cause a current dementia diagnosis.

Imagine that — a drug so detrimental to your brain it can still affect it two decades later.

Experts report that anticholinergic drugs are so bad for your memory because they block acetylcholine, a key neurotransmitter that keeps your memory razor-sharp.

If you’re taking anticholinergic drugs, it’s time to talk to your doctor about getting off of them.
