That’s right, according to a study published in the Journal of Clinical Periodontology, people with periodontitis (a.k.a. gum disease) have a higher risk of experiencing major cardiovascular diseases down the road.
Researchers in the study noted a direct link between arterial inflammation (which is the major culprit behind heart attacks) and gum disease.
Inflammation caused by gum disease mobilized cells that signal inflammation through bone marrow, which can trigger inflammation of arteries.
In other words, that ‘mouth’ problem could be slowing destroying your heart and you don’t even know it!
