If there’s one small silver lining to the COVID-19 crisis, it’s that – thankfully – kids seem insulated against the virus.
According to the World Health Organization, just 2.4 percent of reported Chinese cases were children, and only .02 percent of reported cases were children who were critically ill. Better yet, NO Chinese children died from the illness…
So, you shouldn’t be too worried about your grandkids.
You should be thinking about it for YOURSELF!
Multiple international outlets are now reporting that coronavirus is DANGEROUS for folks in their “golden years” and beyond… and the worst part?
Mainstream docs DON’T KNOW WHY!
I’ll reveal how to protect yourself in just moment… but first, here’s what we know so far.
Despite seemingly SPARING young children – an uncommon trait for most epidemics — deadly coronavirus is far from gentle. Since its debut in late 2019, the virus has spread to about 100 countries and infected close to 120,000 people.
So far, the virus has claimed more than 4,200 lives… and in China, where it originated, seniors older than 80 years old make up 22 percent of coronavirus-related deaths.
Here in the States, almost all coronavirus-related deaths have been folks in their 70s and beyond, and officials all over the country are urging nursing homes and senior centers to limit visitation and events…
But for the most part, no one knows WHY seniors are so at-risk!

The prevailing theory is that older folks have weaker immune systems, so their bodies can’t easily fight off the virus… but there are other factors to consider. No matter your age, underlying health issues – like heart disease, diabetes, and immune disorders – can all increase coronavirus risk.
Even taking certain medication can up your risk, since many drugs negatively affect your immune system.
Plus, we see the same issues in mice!
Researchers out of Texas have recently been experimenting on rodents with sudden acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), a respiratory illness that behaves similarly to COVID-19. In their studies, baby mice have battled or recovered from the infection while older mice have suffered major damage.
Interestingly, though, the damage isn’t coming from coronavirus alone. According to researchers, it’s the result of the rodents’ immune systems OVERREACTING to the virus!
That “aggressive” response could account for extra damage to seniors’ bodies… and maybe even their risk of death… but at this point, there’s still a lot we don’t know.
To keep yourself (and your loved ones) safe, pay attention to these tips:
- Stock up and self-quarantine. The best way to avoid community-spread illness is to keep to yourself. Make sure your house is stocked with essentials (toilet paper, soap, surface cleaners, and healthy food) and plan to stay home as much as possible.
- Be proactive about your health. If you’re forced to leave home – or you’re sick of being cooped up – don’t worry: Going out doesn’t guarantee you’ll get sick. Just make sure to avoid crowds and wash your hands regularly. Use soap and water and scrub for at least 20 seconds each time. Carry a high-quality hand sanitizer for times when you can’t wash your hands.
- Bolster your immune system. Supplementing with elderberry, Echinacea, and vitamin C can help improve your body’s natural defenses.
