[Update] New Coronavirus Symptom Uncovered
Dear Turapür Today Reader,
With the news on coronavirus changing by the minute, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and uncertain… but during these dark times, friend, it’s important to stay as informed as possible.
That’s why I’m back today with an important scoop on a previously UNKNOWN symptom.
It’s a tough-to-spot sign of coronavirus that most docs aren’t looking for… and if you or a loved one have it, you may be at risk.
I’ll tell you what it is (and what to do next) in just a moment – but first, here’s a brief look at some sobering numbers:
Late last week, the United States surpassed China, where the virus is thought to have originated, in number of confirmed cases – making our nation the new world leader.
In the days since, more and more communities have ramped up containment measures and hospital aid, with many states encouraging residents to stay home to prevent further spread.
Only time with tell if these attempts are successful…
But in the meantime, friend, it’s important to know the signs and symptoms associated with coronavirus… because thousands of unknowing folks may already have it!
That’s because, in addition to coughing, fever, and trouble breathing, the virus can manifest as a tough-to-spot, seemingly UNRELATED symptom.
I’m talking about losing your sense of smell.
According to leading rhinologists – docs who specialize in sinus and nasal issues – out of the United Kingdom, folks experiencing anosmia (sudden loss of smell) may be “hidden carriers” of coronavirus even if they don’t show other symptoms.
That guidance is backed up by data of out South Korea, China, and Italy, where almost one-third of COVID-19 patients have reported a loss or reduction in the sense…
And in some cases, that’s the ONLY symptom they’re showing.
According to other reports – from Iran, France, and here at home – cases with this symptom have suddenly increased, and loss of taste may also occur.
If that sounds familiar, friend, and you’ve noticed issues with these senses, it’s important to be aware of it, take steps to minimize your risk, and AVOID spreading it to your friends and loved ones.
First things first, though, don’t panic.
If anosmia is your only symptom, you don’t need to rush yourself to the hospital or emergency room.
In many places, those locations are already overwhelmed – and often, testing isn’t available to folks without obvious respiratory symptoms.
Instead, monitor your health from home.
Here are a few tips:
- Keep an eye on your temperature and write down a timeline of any changes. If you develop a fever, write it down. If you have trouble breathing or can’t stop coughing, write it down. Not only will these notes show you if you’re getting any worse, but they may also assist medical professionals who have limited time with each patient.
- Don’t spread the virus to others. In the UK, specialists have encouraged folks with anosmia to self-isolate, meaning that you should stay home. If you need groceries or other emergency supplies, consider using a delivery service or asking a friend or loved one to drop them off.
- Avoid interacting with possible carriers. Ask your family and friends if they’re experiencing a loss of taste or smell. If they say yes – and your senses are still functioning properly – stop face-to-face interaction with them immediately. While some folks (especially young people) may only ever develop anosmia, seniors have a higher risk of illness and severe symptoms.
