You see, according to a new survey, nearly TWO-THIRDS of Americans say their sleep routine is permanently RUINED thanks to the coronavirus pandemic!
And that makes sense. We’ve all probably had to worry more about our health… our finances… and our families during this crisis.
But if you’re been lacking in the sleep department, there’s good news.
Fortunately, there are ways to enhance both the quantity AND quality of sleep. And they don’t require any sleep medications … special mattresses… or even ‘magic’ pillows.
Getting better sleep could be as simple as opening your blinds!
Research has shown that folks are sleeping MORE hours each night when exposed to more SUNLIGHT during the day.
In their paper published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, a research group looked specifically at office workers, their office environments, and how it correlated to their sleep quality.
They found that workers slept longer when they worked in the office with more natural lighting—on average 37 minutes longer!

But what about the folks that are retired or don’t work in a typical office setting?
There is still plenty you can do to harness the power of the sun to enhance your sleep.
Even if you don’t work in an office you can carve out a space or a nook in your home near a window that lets natural light flow in.
Next time you read a book or are sitting down to pay the bills, consider doing it in an area with plenty of natural light. Or if it’s a nice day, nestle into a comfy lawn chair and do it outside.
Don’t have a space in your home that offers a lot of natural light? Or a good spot outside? Consider taking a vitamin D supplement.
A large percentage of the U.S. population is low in vitamin D (a.k.a ‘The Sunshine Vitamin’). Low vitamin D levels can lead to insomnia and other sleep disorders.
And there’s no harm in taking a little melatonin to help get you into that optimal sleep ‘zone.’
Melatonin is a hormone in your body that plays a role in sleep and as a dietary supplement it is often used to help folks that have trouble sleeping.
Melatonin can be found at most health food stores and many online retailers.
