Hidden Cause of High Blood Pressure – EXPOSED!

High blood pressure is one of those things most docs can only guess at.
Sure, the numbers don’t lie… and just a few too-high readings are enough to make a diagnosis…
But finding the cause?

At least… that’s how things used to be.
Now, though, a genius group of American researchers have identified the SECRET CAUSE of heart-wrecking hypertension… a crazy-important nutrient that’s found in some of your favorite foods…
But here’s the problem: YOU’RE NOT GETTING ENOUGH OF IT!
Today, I want to share the importance of zinc.
In the study, published in the American Journal of Physiology – Renal Physiology, researchers from Wright State and Emory universities set out to investigate the mechanisms that cause high blood pressure.
First, they observed that mice fed a low-zinc diet went on to develop hypertension.
Then, they split those mice into two groups, with one half eating a higher-zinc diet and the other supplementing with hydrochlorothiazide, a drug that inhibits something called NCC.

That’s a cotransporter in the kidneys that absorbs sodium from your urine and feeds it back into your body, increasing your blood pressure…
And here’s where things start to get interesting.
Both groups of mice saw LOWERED blood pressure!
After changing up the mice’s diet, their levels actually returned to normal, suggesting that both zinc and hydrochlorothiazide work in similar ways… by DECREASING those NCC levels.
Specifically, zinc may influence a protein that moderates NCC, experts say.
And when NCC is inhibited, it stops reabsorbing sodium, allowing more of it to be excreted in your urine – NOT reintroduced to your bloodstream – so your blood pressure DOESN’T rise.
But that’s not even the best part…
Because while Scientific Reports suggests that 1.1 billion people are zinc-deficient, many filling and flavorful foods actually contain high amounts of the nutrient.
If you or a loved one are worried you might be deficient – usually signaled by hair loss, slowed growth, or reduced appetite – try upping your intake of whole grains, dairy, and red meat.
For an added punch, consider taking a zinc supplement – readily available through big-box retailers and local pharmacies.
