In fact, a new study has just come out that makes a shocking – and DEADLY – connection to restless sleep and fatal heart disease!
According to a study done by researchers at the University of California, Berkley, disrupted nightly sleep and clogged arteries seem unconnected on the surface… but they are in fact pathologically intertwined.
The UC Berkley team of sleep scientists have discovered that fragmented sleep is associated with a unique pathway—chronic circulating inflammation throughout the blood stream—which, in turn, is linked to higher amounts of plaques in coronary arteries.
In other words, in addition to the usual culprits like poor diet, lack of exercise, and smoking… poor sleep is now a key risk factor for cardiovascular disease… which kills nearly 12,000 Americans EACH WEEK!
But there’s good news! There is plenty you can do to remedy poor sleep and fend off the risk of deadly heart disease.

It may seem strange at first, but one of the best ways to get a better night’s sleep is to expose yourself to more natural daylight.
In last Tuesday’s edition of Turapür Today, I talked about a research study that found folks are sleeping MORE hours each night when exposed to more SUNLIGHT during the day – and average of 37 minutes longer!
Another simple solution to better rest is to ditch your screens when you begin winding down for the night. And not just smartphone or computer screens… I recommend turning off your TV screen, too!
Why? Using screens before bed delays your body’s internal clock (a.k.a., your circadian rhythm) and makes it more difficult to fall asleep.
And as always, you want to make sure you’re getting some kind of physical exercise during the day. Exercise is great for your heart AND your sleep.
And there’s no harm in taking a little melatonin to help get you into that optimal sleep ‘zone.’ Melatonin is a hormone in your body that plays a role in sleep and as a dietary supplement it is often used to help folks that have trouble sleeping.
Melatonin can be found at most health food stores and many online retailers.
