An international team of scientists was looking into medicines that could be used to potentially treat coronavirus.

They found that dextromethorphan, a common active ingredient in cough suppressants, could cause coronavirus to replicate FASTER!

Dextromethorphan is used by cough and cold medication manufacturers to stifle the signals in the brain that set off the reflex to cough.

The research team said that due to its use in almost all common cough syrups, it is likely that people infected with coronavirus have been using it on their own.

That’s a scary thought…

In addition to this shocking link between dextromethorphan and coronavirus, dextromethorphan has a number of other devastating side effects, like…

My go-to remedy for fending off a cough is ginger. This ‘funny-looking’ root acts like JET FUEL for your immune system and may give you the ample protection you need to stay healthy year-round.

Due to its strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, ginger has a ton of immune-boosting properties.

One study found that fresh ginger had antiviral effects against human respiratory syncytial virus (HRSV), which causes respiratory infections, and helped boost immune response against HRSV.

Brew yourself a cup of piping hot ginger tea instead of reaching for cough medicine.

To make ginger tea at home, simply slice 20-40 g of fresh ginger root and steep in a cup of boiling water. Allow the ginger to steep in hot water for 10 minutes. You can add a slice of lemon or a drop of honey to improve flavor. If it tastes too strong or spicy, you can simply dilute it with more hot water and honey.

Ginger is extremely versatile, and can be added to your diet in other ways, For example…

  • Chew on a slice of ginger root a few minutes before each meal.
  • Add fresh ginger to a smoothie or juice
  • Add fresh or dried ginger to your homemade salad dressing
  • Add extra flavor and color to your side dishes by sprinkling grated ginger on the top
