That’s because new research has honed in on an activity that could potentially add upwards of 10 years to your life… IF you can commit to it for 20 minutes each day.
Italian researchers have discovered that exercising for 20 minutes a day in your 70s can help you live longer.
How long, exactly?
The study found that it could single-handedly help you reach your 80s! That’s like potentially tacking on 10 years to your life!
Sure, everyone knows that exercise is good for your overall health… but what’s the link to exercising later in life and living longer?

As you get older – particularly in your 70s and 80s – you’re at a greater risk of developing heart disease. But the study found that moderate to vigorous physical activity reduced the risk of developing heart disease when you reach your 80s.
In fact, the study found that men in their 70s who participated in regular exercise for at least 20 minutes (but also upwards of 40 minutes) had a 52% lower risk of developing heart disease than those who had the tendency to skip their workout.
Yes, I know the study honed in specifically on men, but researchers noted that the benefits of exercising later in life were also beneficial for women.
The bottom line? Staying active is vital to your longevity – no matter what your gender is!
And here’s the best part… it’s never too late to start exercising… and it doesn’t mean you have to go to the gym.
Moderate exercises like walking are great for your heart and joints… and even more ‘vigorous’ activities like lifting weights, cycling, and jogging are all good for you (if you’re up for it).
So, if you’re already staying active… keep it going! If you’re not very active, or are looking to start a new exercise routine, be sure to talk to you doctor before starting anything.
