According to new research from The Baker Heart & Diabetes Institute in Australia, type 2 diabetes is associated with an increased risk of cancer AND dementia.
The study found that people with type 2 diabetes have a 60% GREATER risk of developing dementia compared to those without diabetes.
AND, people with type 2 diabetes are approximately TWO TIMES more likely to develop pancreatic, endometrial and liver cancer, have a 30% higher chance of getting bowel cancer and a 20% increased risk of breast cancer.
But why the connection between type 2 diabetes, dementia, and cancer?
It boils down to insulin and glucose.
Cancer cells use glucose as a key fuel, so the more glucose in the blood, potentially, the more rapidly cancer will grow.
Insulin can also promote the growth of cells. And since in the early stages of type 2 diabetes insulin levels are elevated, this might also promote the development of cancer.
High glucose levels and other metabolic disturbances associated with diabetes may, over time, directly affect the way certain types of brain cells function… which is why researchers believe the link between type 2 diabetes and dementia.

But, there are ways you can manage and regulate your diabetes NATURALLY. And doing so will help fend off the complications of type 2 diabetes, and the growing number of risk factors associated with it.
Experts agree that diets like the ketogenic diet (aka “keto”) and intermittent fasting not only allow you to eat good, tasty foods… but have all sorts of diabetes-blasting benefits.
Keto is a very low-carb, high-fat diet that shares many similarities with the Atkins and other low-carb diets. It involves drastically reducing carbohydrate intake and replacing it with fat.
